Guten Morgen

Im Moment lohnt sich ein Blick über den Tellerrand hinaus. Über Ostasien findet im Moment eine explosive Zyklogenese statt. Der Jetstream erreicht über Hokkaido (nördliches Japan) am SA 00Z ein Maximum von 170kt auf 300hPa! Das Bodentief wird dermassen stark mit Energie versorgt, dass der Kerndruck rasant bis auf 960 hPa absinkt. Entsprechend giftig sind auch die Winde: Hokkaido, welches vom Hauptwindfeld am Rande getroffen wird, erwartet bis zu 75kt auf 850hPa. Und der Sturm besteht nicht etwa aus einem milden Westwind, sondern aus der Sorte -8 Grad auf 850hPa und tiefer -> Blizzard!

Und hier noch in Worten: Strong wind, heavy snow forecast in eastern, northern Japan

The Japan Meteorological Agency warned Friday of strong wind, high surf and heavy snow over a wide range of areas through Saturday in eastern and northern Japan due to the effects of an atmospheric depression. Gusty winds are expected on the Pacific side of eastern Japan Saturday morning, in the Hokuriku region on the Sea of Japan early Saturday morning and in northern Japan by Saturday evening, according to the agency.

Winds of up to about 65-83 kilometers per hour are predicted on land and up to about 83-101 kph at sea. Hokkaido may see up to 70 centimeters of snow, 50 cm in the Tohoku region and 40 cm in the Hokuriku, northern Kanto and northern Koshin regions by Saturday morning, according to the agency. Low atmospheric pressure over western Japan is expected to advance east-northeast to the Pacific off the coast of the Sanriku coast and reach east of Hokkaido, the northernmost prefecture by Friday night, according to the agency.

Ich habe gerade den Ausschnitt vom Global GFS Modell generiert.
Ein starkes Windfeld wird da vor Japan sichtbar. Sehr extrem.

Hallo Pascal

Betrachtete man lediglich die Windgschwindigkeiten auf der von dir geposteten Karte, wäre der Sturm in meinen Augen nicht sonderlich erwähnenswert.. Verbunden aber mit den kalten Temperaturen und dem vielen Schnee, welcher fallen soll, ist das doch ein ganz interessanter Sturm. Obwohl ich zugeben muss, dass ich keine Ahnung habe, ob solche Stürme um Japan im Winter immer mal wieder vorkommen, oder ob dies tatsächlich ein aussergewöhnlicher Schneesturm selbst für dortige Verhältnisse werden wird.

Der 10m Wind ist von SA 06Z, ein paar Stunden früher müsste über dem Festland (Hokkaido) noch mehr Wind sein.

Gemäss Wetteronline in Misawa (Nordostküste der Hauptinsel) eine Böe von 119 km/h (SYNOP?, METAR?). Im Moment gerade Schneetreiben bei 30kt und -3 Grad:

Snowstorm cuts off power to some 50,000 households in Aomori

Up to 50,000 households in Aomori Prefecture experienced blackouts since Friday evening as a strong snowstorm cut some high-voltage power lines and knocked down electric poles, officials at Aomori prefectural government and a local power company said Saturday. As of 4 p.m. Saturday, 21,000 households in four cities and five towns were left without power, and it is still unclear when power would be restored, Tohoku Electric Power Co officials said.

More than 30 cases of damage to housing have been reported in cities of Hirosaki and Mutsu, although there have been no reports of human casualties, officials from the disaster prevention and fire defense department at the prefectural government said.

East Japan Railway Co said a total of about 40 trains on the JR Tohoku Line were canceled between Aomori and Hachinohe since Friday night.

Earlier in the day, the Japan Meteorological Agency warned that gusty winds, tidal waves and heavy snow fall in northeastern Japan are likely to continue through Saturday evening due a low pressure system developing at sea, east of Hokkaido.

The meteorological observatory in Sapporo reported up to 54 centimeters of snow in Shari and strong winds registering a maximum velocity of about 147.96 kilometers per hour in Rausu.

More than 200 trains linking Sapporo and such cities as Wakkanai and Abashiri in Hokkaido were cancelled, while over 50 flights in and out of New Chitose Airport were also cancelled.
